Kurosh Davis Portrait Painter Kurosh read Horticulture at Bath University. As a student he worked for the landscape architects Brown & Rowe and the Olin Partnership USA. He then completed a degree in music at the Musikhochschule Detmold, Germany and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. After a period as a professional Viola player, Kurosh continued his education at the University of Central England and qualified as a Chartered Landscape Architect. For the last ten years Kurosh has worked at Tom Stuart-Smith Landscape Design. For more information see tomstuartsmith.co.uk Kurosh still performs as a viola player in chamber groups around Europe. His training in painting has taken place in life drawing and painting classes in London during evenings, weekends and short courses in art schools such as Central St Martins, Heatherleys, Chelsea College of Art, Slade, Art Academy, West Dean over the last thirteen years. Kurosh is influenced by and continues to study the works and teachings of several artists to which he is indebted such as Richard Schmid, John Howard Sanden, Scott Burdick, Scott Christensen from the US and June Mendoza, Ken Howard and David Curtis of the UK. He is fascinated by the direct painting, also called alla prima or premier coup as found for example in the works of Sargent, Zorn, De Lazlo, Sorolla, Corinth, Serov, Millais, Lawrence, Orpen. Most of the portraits shown in this gallery were created in London.
